New Years resolutions for your home
Tips to make your house a home, this year.
Do you make New Year's resolutions? Well, you can make them for your home, too.
Here are a few things you could do to start the new year off right!
Get rid of clutter. It's probably the best and least expensive way to feel better about your home. Don't overwhelm yourself with decluttering but it's a nice way to start the year by having a clean and organized home. Start with getting rid of the things you don't use and bring in things that you need. Try creating extra space for storing things and get your home organized. Purge unused or unneeded things periodically throughout the year so you can stay on top of the clutter and keep your home tidy.
Make your home friendlier. Even though 2020 has not allowed for entertaining, there will come a time when we can have family and friends over, once again. Try adding comfy pillows or a new rug to your living area, rearrange your furniture to make conversation areas or updating the guest room with more comfortable surroundings. Add some plants to your home. This will not only add to the presentation of your home but it's also good for the air.
Go Green. Help the environment and your energy bills. Commit to switching off lights when you leave a room. Install LED bulbs. Only run the dishwasher when it's full. Give composting a try. Don't run water when brushing your teeth. Find a new way to be conservative.
Keep your house clean. We all love it when our home is clean but we hate the act of cleaning. Develop a plan to keep it clean without it becoming an overwhelming task. Focus on one thing at a time. For instance, do windows first, then dusting, then vacuum and mop. Make your supplies easily available by keeping them in a portable caddy to bring them from room to room. You can even get the family involved so it's not all on one persons shoulders, with each person taking on one task or one room. In no time, your entire home will be clean and enjoyable.
These are just a few ways to 'ring in the new year' so use your imagination and make your house feeling like home.
